Picture Books are mostly written for adults to read to children.
Easy Readers are written for children who are developing their
reading skill. They have controlled vocabulary and repetitive sounds.
Graphic Novels are full length books written in a comic book style.
Board Books are heavy cardboard books designed for young children to
handle without too much damage.
Juvenile Fiction books are chapter books written for more advanced
readers.
Juvenile Non-fiction books are for children of all ages to use to
learn about specific topics. Some of their favorite subjects are animals,
jokes and crafts.
Hooked on Phonics and Hooked on Math kits are available for two week
check out periods.
Magazine subscriptions are maintained for children.
Topical Brochures are developed for award winning books and commonly
requested items.
All of the above materials are housed in the children's
room.

Book Adventure
Book Adventure is a
FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create
their own book lists from over 7,000 recommended titles, take multiple
choice quizzes on the books they've read, and earn points and prizes for
their literary successes.
TumbleBook Library a collection of electronic books for
children. No password required.
Searchasaurus covers all subject
areas and is
an exciting and easy way for elementary students to experience online
searching. It is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages
students to enhance and develop basic search methodologies.
Kids Search
covers all subject areas for elementary and middle school students. It is
visually appealing and includes the ability to search by topic, subtopic, or
keywords.
SIRS Discoverer is designed
with the young researcher in mind. This interactive tool strengthens
research, reading, writing and computer skills. Articles and graphics from
more than 1,400 U.S. and international magazines, newspapers and U.S.
government documents are carefully selected for their educational content,
interest and level of readability.
Kids InfoBits
is a database developed especially for beginning researchers in
Kindergarten through Grade 5. Featuring a developmentally appropriate,
visually graphic interface, the most popular search method is moving from a
broad subject to a narrower topic using the subject-based topic tree. This
database covers geography, current events, the arts, science, health,
people, government, history, sports and more.
Passwords are available at the
Library for the above mentioned resources.

Audio Books
on both cassette and CD are available for check out. Most audio
books also have the book as well.
Movies
that are rated G have been separated from the rest of the movies to
provide children with easy access.
Music
a separate collection of music just for children is available for check
out.
Educational Software is available for check out.
Policies
Library Cards
are available to all children. Children without ID cards will need a
parent with them to obtain a library card.
Child Supervision is the responsibility of parents or guardians.
Children under the age of 10 must be supervised at all times.
Noise Level
is expected to be maintained so that all customers are able to enjoy
and use the library.
Food is not permitted in the library.
Drinks
are permitted in spill-proof containers.

Throughout the year, the library staff provides
special programs for children that typically revolved around reading,
literacy and education.
Story Time is usually offered every other week during the school year
for children ages 3-5. Children are read stories and do a related craft.
Toddler Time is usually offered every other week during the school
year for children ages 1-3. Children are read stories and enjoy music and
movement.
Summer Reading Program is offered during June and July for all
children. The program is themed, encourages reading by children and
parents, offers incentive prizes and brings in performers such as magicians
and story tellers.
Year Round Readers is a small scale reading incentive program that
runs for all children during the school year.
Home School groups meet in the library regularly.
Other Programs have included Wednesday Afternoon Movies, Curious
George Celebration, Dr. Seuss Celebration, Drop Everything and Read and
tutoring.
